About the Artist
Barbara McClatchie Andrews is a Canadian photojournalist and photographer. Her early work focused on cultural themes emerging from the developing world where she has travelled extensively.
Barbara's photo essays have been published in international journals including National Geographic and The World & I (worldandi.com). Her photographs have been exhibited in one-woman shows in Guatemala, Mexico, USA and Canada where Art Works Gallery in Vancouver represents her work (artworksbc.com). She has also participated in group shows in Canada, The United States, New Zealand, and France.
Barbara now focuses exclusively on her photographs, in which you can see “a world parallel to that of daily reality, one demanding time and attention to be observed, a silent world that manages to say much through effective use of composition, form and colour”. Details of her exhibitions are available in the gallery section of this website.
Barbara has a degree in English and French Literature from The University of British Columbia. Her postgraduate studies include English Literature at Canada's Concordia University, and Spanish Literature as well as Photography and Illustration at The University of Arizona. She is trilingual.
When Barbara is not working on her photographs, she supports a non-profit gallery, Galeria Inlakech (galeriainlakech.com) which fosters emerging artists.
