Embracing the Accidental I and II
Museo de la Ciudad/Museo de la Callejón del Congreso Teatro Peon Contreras
Mérida, Yucatán, México, May 2010 - September 2011
These visual poems constitute a celebration of time’s accidental or unintended art, embracing those things which we dismiss as junk or unsightly - a rusted car, a paint-splattered ladder, a peeling fibre glass hull. They no longer use landscapes as a metaphor but count on the language of abstraction to speak for itself. Nor do they offer titles that direct the observer but invite him to see what he will see.
