A swimming pool was the setting for my nude series, which have as a working title “The Human Condition”. This work will be part of a group show (installations) in the Macay Museum of Contemporary Art in Mérida, México in 2013.

In these pictures, it was my intention to use my model, who is encased in a plastic bag floating in water, as a metaphor for the human condition: water is our ancestral home, we comprise water, gestate in water. And yet we are no longer at home in it. The plastic bag stands for our half-conscious awareness of this dilemma: we are part of, yet separate from, nature and the irony is that this separation is of our own manufacture. Each image reflects a unique response of the swimmer to this human condition. The final four images presented here will be printed individually as curtains for shower stalls that I will use in my installation.
